Segments

Segments let you treat different groups of products differently within the same collection. Instead of sorting every product the same way, you can push featured products to the top, push slow movers or out-of-stock items to the bottom, and sort everything else by your chosen rule. Segments are built from reusable filter and sort profiles, so you can set a strategy once and apply it across many collections.

The building blocks

• Filter profile — Decides which products a segment applies to. The options are:
  • All products — a catch-all that covers every product not handled by another segment (often used as a fallback).
  • Push featured — singles out specific products you want to highlight.
  • Push up — moves matching products toward the top.
  • Push down — moves matching products toward the bottom, for example low or out-of-stock items.
  • Lock position — pins specific products to fixed positions so they always stay put.
• Sort profile — Decides how the products in that segment are ordered (best sellers, revenue, stock, price, and so on — see the collection sorting help article for the full list).
• Segment — Combines one filter profile with one sort profile, so it says both which products and in what order.

How it works

1. Create filter and sort profiles — Save the filters and sorts you want to reuse, each with a name.
2. Build segments — Pair a filter profile with a sort profile to make a segment, and give it a name.
3. Add segments to a collection — Attach one or more segments to a collection. Ouiteo applies them together: featured and pushed-up products rise, pushed-down products sink, locked products stay fixed, and the remaining products are sorted by your fallback segment.
4. Auto-sort — With auto-sort on, the collection keeps following these segment rules on your schedule.

How to set it up

1. Open the Segments area and create the filter profiles and sort profiles you need.
2. Combine them into segments.
3. Open a collection and add the segments you want it to use.
4. Turn on auto-sort and save.

FAQ

What's the difference between a segment and a sort? A plain sort orders every product the same way. A segment lets you apply a different rule to a specific group — for example always featuring certain products or always pushing out-of-stock items down — while the rest follow your main sort.

Can I reuse the same segment across collections? Yes. Segments, filter profiles, and sort profiles are all reusable, so a strategy you build once can be applied to many collections.

Can I keep certain products in fixed spots? Yes. Use a lock-position filter to pin specific products to set positions so sorting doesn't move them.

What happens to products that don't match any segment? Add an "all products" segment as a fallback; it sorts everything that isn't handled by your other segments.

Can I push out-of-stock products to the bottom? Yes. A push-down segment is commonly used to move low or out-of-stock products down so available products show first.
