Inventory Rules automatically hide products from your storefront when they meet conditions you set, usually when they're low or out of stock, and bring them back when things change. This keeps your storefront clean by removing sold-out items from view, then republishing them once they're restocked, all without manual work.
How it works
- Create a rule — Define the conditions that should trigger it (for example, inventory below 1) and whether the rule hides or unhides products.
- Choose how to hide — Remove products from sales channels, set them to draft, or archive them. For unhiding, you can republish or set them back to active.
- Choose your products — Use a filter to decide which products the rule applies to.
- Decide when it runs — Run it once, on a schedule, or continuously so it keeps your storefront up to date.
- Monitor — See which products are currently hidden and review the rule's history.
- Revert — Bring hidden products back manually, or have them return automatically when they're back in stock.
Options
- Hide method — remove from sales channels, set to draft, or archive.
- Unhide method — add back to sales channels or set to active.
- Sales channels — choose which channels (such as Online Store or POS) the rule affects.
- Redirects — optionally create a URL redirect when a product is hidden so shoppers landing on its page are sent elsewhere.
How to set it up
- Open the Inventory Rules page and create a new rule.
- Choose whether it hides or unhides, and pick the method and sales channels.
- Select the products it applies to using a filter.
- Choose how often it runs: once, on a schedule, or continuously.
- Set your revert policy, then save.
FAQ
Will hidden products come back automatically when restocked? Yes, if you set the rule to revert when conditions change. It will re-check stock and republish products that are available again.
Does hiding a product delete it? No. Hiding only removes the product from customer view by unpublishing, drafting, or archiving it. The product and its data remain in your store.
Can I bring hidden products back manually? Yes. You can revert at any time to restore products to their previous visibility.
Can the rule keep running on its own? Yes. You can run a rule continuously so your storefront stays current as stock levels change.
What happens to shoppers who visit a hidden product's page? If you enable redirects, they're sent to a URL you choose instead of seeing an unavailable product.
